I teamed up with Simsand Architects to design two new public spaces in the main shopping street for the seaside town of Frederikshavn, Denmark. The project is inspired by it’s location by the sea and the local surrounding landscape and vegetation and to throw in a little homage to my background, the boardwalks of Coney Island, Brooklyn.
“Frederikshavn Boardwalk” consists of two large wooden decks with multi-functional urban furniture shaped with inspiration from the water, equipped with materials, vegetation and wind shields that fit and protect from the high winds coming off the sea. The integrated lighting solution makes it possible for everyone to meet here all year around. We believe that a multi-functional environment will not only be comfortable for a break on a busy shopping street, but will also help to bring people together.
